Multi-Factor Authentication

Figure 4.  Multi-Factor Authentication Dialog

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requesting a new access code each time you log in.  It is recommended for any user, but it is REQUIRED for all users in companies with Makos configured with the PCI Template.

If you DO NOT choose to use Multi-Factor Authentication, click the “Not Now” button (Fig. 4).  You have completed the registration process, and you will be directed to the CMS Home page.

If you DO choose to use Multi-Factor Authentication, click the “Sign Up” button (Fig. 4) to continue the registration process.

Figure 5.  Multi-Factor Authentication Page

Follow the instructions on the Multi-Factor Authentication page (Fig. 5).

Choose and download an approved authenticator app.  This is an app that generates 6-digit access codes that you will enter when logging in to the CMS.

You will need either the QR code or the Manual key shown on the Multi-Factor Authentication page to set up the authenticator app.  Please refer to the documentation for your chosen authenticator app for specific details.

Once the authenticator app is up and running, it will generate access codes at regular intervals.  It will display the current access code with a countdown to expiration. If an access code is about to expire, you may want to wait and use the next one.

To complete the registration process, enter your CMS password in the Password field, enter the current access code from the authenticator app in the Access Code field, and then click the “Save” button.  You will be directed to the CMS Home page.
